Appointments

Staithes Surgery

Online appointments

Appointments can be made on-line, on the NHS App, via telephone or at the reception desk. All appointments are for 15 minutes.  If your issue is complex or there is more than one matter you would like to discuss please ask to book a double appointment.

Booking an appointment online

Please consider registering for Patient Access – this service allows you to book your own appointments securely online. Find out more on our PCN website or speak to a member of the reception team who will be happy to help you set this up.

Booking an appointment with a named GP

If you would like to see your own doctor, you will usually be able to do so by booking an afternoon appointment in advance.

Text reminders

We use a text messaging service as a secure way of quickly communicating with patients. If you would like to use this service contact reception for further information.

Enhanced Access

Patients who are registered at this practice can now pre-book an appointment to see a GP or nurse on a weekday evening between 6.30pm – 8pm and on a Saturday morning between 9am – 5pm.  These sessions are held at Whitby Community Hospital and can only be booked via the receptionist at your registered practice (Staithes Surgery). This is not a walk-in service. Please speak to a receptionist to find out more or to book an appointment.

How to cancel you appointment

If you no longer need to attend your booked appointment this can be done online if you use our online services (NHS app) or telephone the surgery to cancel. By cancelling your appointment in good time this will free up the slot for the use of another patient.

Home visits

Wherever possible we prefer to see patients in the surgery but, if a home visit is necessary, requests should be made before 10.30am to help the doctors plan their day.

Urgent calls will be attended immediately.

Out of hours

If you need help outside our business hours, the answer phone message will give you the details you will need to contact an out of hours doctor.

Our receptionists answer the telephone during business hours Monday to Friday; at all other times there is a recorded message which will ask you to contact another number – please have a pen and paper handy.

Call NHS 111 for medical problems that will not wait until the surgery is open.

Dial 999 in any life-threatening medical emergency.
