Flu clinic
Every autumn we offer flu vaccination to patients:
- over 65 years of age
- Heart problems
- A chest complaint or breathing difficulties, including bronchitis or emphysema
- Kidney disease
- Lowered immunity due to disease or treatment (such as steroid medication or cancer treatment)
- Liver disease
- Stroke or a transient ischaemic attack (TIA)
- Diabetes
- Pregnant women
- Aneurological condition such as MS
- A problem with your spleen, for example sickle cell disease, or if you have had your spleen removed
- Children aged 2–4 years can have a nasal vaccine in surgery
- Children in school years 1 and 2 will be offered a nasal vaccine at school
- Patients working in a nursing/residential home
Antenatal clinic
Held by the midwife. Wednesday mornings.
Asthma clinic
Held by the Practice Nurse. Appointments are variable throughout the week.
Blood pressure
Patients are encouraged to have their blood pressure checked once every three years once they reach the age of forty.
Child immunisations
Held by the Practice Nurse. Appointments are variable throughout the week.
Chiropody
Clinics are held at Whitby Hospital by appointment only
Contraception and mental health
Held by GP and Practice Nurse. Appointments are variable throughout the week.
COPD
Held by the Practice Nurse. Appointments are variable throughout the week.
Diabetes clinic
Held by the Practice Nurse. Appointments are variable throughout the week.
Drug and alcohol counselling
Held by the addiction team, by appointment.
Minor injuries
Held by GP and Practice Nurse by appointment.
Minor surgery
Held by GP and Practice Nurse. Appointments are variable throughout the week.
New patient health check and NHS health checks
Held by the Practice Nurse and Health Care Assistant. Appointments are variable throughout the week
Phlebotomy
Held by the Health Care Assistant. Appointments are variable throughout the week
Physiotherapy

Shingles vaccination
The eligibility criteria for the shingles vaccination has recently changed, currently we are calling for patients who turn 65 on or after 1st September 2023, patients aged 70 to 79 years who have not had a shingles vaccine and patients aged 50 or over with a severely weakened immune system. Eligible patients will be invited via text message, letter or phone call.
Smoking cessation
Held by the Practice Nurse or Healthcare Assistant. Appointments are variable throughout the week.
Travel
Held by the Practice Nurse. Appointments are variable throughout the week.> For travel immunisations and advice please complete the travel vaccination questionnaire and return to the surgery prior to making an appointment to see the Practice Nurse, ideally 6 to 8 weeks before you are due to travel.
